Current stock market correction is giving an opportunity to invest in equities. India growth story is intact based on strong domestic demand driven consumption and estimated GDP of above 8.5%. Due to various negative factors like hike in interest rates, soaring inflation, crude oil above 100$ per barrel and disclosure of scams in case of allocation of 2G licenses and housing loan have hurted the sentiments of investors badly, this can be easily figured out by the fact that FIIs are net sellers since last 2 months. Foreign Institutional Investors have sold shares worth Rs. 6330 crores in the month of January and sold Rs. 906 crores worth of shares in February 2011.

Today, the 30-share BSE Sensex dropped 545.92 points or 3%, to close at 17,632.41 and the 50-share NSE Nifty fell 174.65 points or 3.21%, to end at 5262.70 on record volume.

Investing Opportunity Ahead

As per the provisional data available with NSE, FIIs were net sellers of Rs. 2702 crore on 24th Feb 2011. Indian stock market has seen a record volume. We believe that pain in stock market is yet not over and we can experience more down side in stock market due to weak sentiments of FIIs and lesser participation from retail investors.

If Nifty breaks 5200 with high volumes, it can see another 6-8% correction. In such a case, we can see Nifty testing new low levels of 4800-5000. Similary Sensex can see bottom at 16,000 levels, if nothing favours the stock market sentiments. A good budget from Govt cannot help market in a big way, but we believe that final quarter results of FY 2010-11 can bring some cheers and change the sentiments of Investors. Indian stock market will surely perform better in first half of FY 2011-12.

Invest in Stocks which offer you Value for your Money

If we follow Warren Buffett strategy, this time can be considered to buy good small and mid cap stocks which offers value for your investment. Companies with high dividend yield, debt free or negligible debt in books, sitting with cash reserves perform better compared to leveraged companies.
